Zethesis Research & Engineering is a private R&D initiative founded by Robert Smith, PhD, working at the point where computational research becomes usable engineering software.

The work is hands-on and technical: CFD workflows, numerical methods, scientific computing, and the often-overlooked task of making research code reliable enough to depend on.

Kingfisher emerging from water

The Zethesis mark is inspired by aquatic birds such as the kingfisher and the heron — forms shaped by air, water, precision and patience.

The kingfisher suggests fast penetration of a fluid interface with minimal disturbance. The heron suggests balance, observation and controlled motion. Both reflect the idea behind the work: understand the flow, reduce the complexity, and turn physics into engineering insight.
